How to Create a Progressive Christmas Song
What You'll Be CreatingIn mid December last year, I decided to create a special ELECTRONIC MUSIC ersion of a popular Christmas song. I began my search for MIDI files on the net, and I chose Silent Night after about one hour surfing. Here's how I created the track.Basic SettingsI set the tempo to 120 BPM and used the C major scale. For this project, the time signature is 4/4. The channel colours are: green for mid melodies, brown for bass and blue for drums.Score EditingI edited the original score of the song in MIDI (piano roll), but its time signature was in 3/4. I wanted the new one to be in 4/4—this is the normal for DANCE MUSIC so I edited all the notes, pushing and shifting them until I was satisfied, working four bars at a time.I also wanted it to be consistent. It was a bit slower than the original when I finished it, but I still liked the results, so I kept it.LeadFor this part I made a simple synth patch in Analog, with an efffects chain containing smooth saturation, and a bit of Ping Pong delay.Analog: OSC1 0dB, square wave, amp adsr 5ms - 626ms - 0 - 626ms, LFO1 rate 1/4t, pulse width 50%, LFO1 modulating it with 1.0, volume 3dBSaturator: drive +6 dB, Analog Clip mode, base 16, freq 471Hz, width 50%, depth 12, 40% dry wetPing Pong Delay: default settings with 70% feedback and 44% dry wetLimiter: default settingsEQ Eight: 370Hz lo cut with 0.71 QBassThis channel is also programmed in MIDI, and the notes follow the lead track. SADIQ KHAN REPLIES TO SAVEFABRIC PETITION
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has reponded to the online petition to save legendary nightclub fabric from closure. The club's licence is currently under review by Islington Council following the drug-related deaths of two 18-year-olds at the club over a nine week period.Set up by resident DJ and promoter Jacob Husley, the petition argues the case that the venue is a globally-respected cultural hub for dance music, which already employs stringent search and removal policies. Over 90,000 signatures have already been collected (you can still sign here), whilst untold support for the club has spread across social media through the tags #SaveFabric and #FabricMoments. There has also been some backlash against the police, who some claim have a vendetta against the club. Now Sadiq Khan has released an official statement via change.org saying he has urged all parties involved to "find a common sense solution that ensures the club remains open while protecting the safety of those who want to enjoy London’s clubbing scene." Khan, who made a pledge during his election campaign to protect London's nightlife, also mentions his plans to employ a Night Czar to look after the nocturnal economy and claims he is "determined to do more to protect [London's clubs], as well as our theatres, live music venues, artists workspaces, historic buildings and pubs."While these statements seem all well and good, overall the letter is rather vague on plans, and Khan does state that City Hall "does not have the power to intervene in licensing cases." What makes his response becomes particularly worrying to those hoping to stop fabric's closure, however, is the inclusion of a link to an article from the Islington Gazette. The paper references a police report from a Sgt. Aaron Barnes, who alledges that on one night a dubious 80% of people in the club "“appeared to be under the influence of drugs”, using the claim that the bars — which, for the majority, aren't situated on the dancefloors in fabric — appeared
Gary Numan how the Billboard charts told him his tracks arent electric
Despite 95% of the instrumentation on Numan’s new album being electronic, the US chart company says it does not qualify for their dance/electronic countdown Gary Numan is one of the most famous creators of electronic music. Since 1979, when his band Tubeway Army’s single Are ‘Friends’ Electric? – a song about a robot sex worker – spent four weeks at No 1, he has been routinely described as an “electronic pioneer” and a Google search for “Numan electronic” produces 526,000 results. However, this doesn’t satisfy US chart company Billboard, who have decreed that his new album, Savage (Songs From A Broken World), does not qualify for their dance/electronic chart, even though 95% of it was produced by electronic instruments. According to producer Ade Fenton, Savage’s 51 channels of synthesisers and electronic drums make it the “most electronic” of the four albums he and Numan have worked on. However, the album’s classification as rock/alternative means that Numan has missed out on an almost certain dance/electronic No1, instead having to settle for a rather more lowly rock/alternative No 22.
