THE GARDEN FESTIVAL 2015 REVIEW
Seven days of festival can seem like a lot to even the most hardened clubber. Even Craig David took Sunday's off. But that's exactly what The Garden, Croatia, have been providing festival goers for the past decade. Seven days of non-stop club, beach and boat party action featuring the world’s most splendid house and disco talent.Set within the serenity of Tisno, a fishing village roughly an hour's drive from Split, 2015 would mark the 10th and final year for the festival. Having visited two years ago this DJ Mag reporter knew that it would be criminal to miss The Garden's swan song so bag packed DJ Mag embarked for a week of hedonism in paradise.DJ Mag touches down in Tisno, and after fuelling up on pizza and wine (two things Tisno has nailed) we head to the festival site to get a feel for the week to come. It's comforting to find that things haven't changed since our last visit with the action centralising around three focal point; the Beach stage, Main stage and Olive Grove stage. All vary in size but all remain intimate; the sound tuned perfectly to each — putting UK counterparts to shame and proving that festival sound doesn’t have to be shit. With the main action kicking off on day two, DJ Mag makes a tactical decision to get an early one. The Garden is a marathon, not a sprint, and past experience here has taught us that it's never a strong look to be burnt up and burnt out come day three.DJ Mag receives no prizes for bowing out early. In fact, we're rocking a pretty unjustified hangover so it's down to the festival site to indulge in slushy cocktails and a perfectly tailored house and disco soundtrack.Cobwebs well and truly dusted and the sun setting on Tisno DJ Mag hits the main stage to catch Outboxx offer up a solid live set, swiftly followed by PBR Streetgang who chug their way through a selection of meaty house jams, setting the scene nicely for the first Barbarellas visit of the week! For those not in the know, Barbarellas is The Garden's famed nightclub.
EXSSV Hangover feat Jitta
EXSSV's new track “Hangover” wastes no time hitting hard right from the start, taking listeners along on the wild and crazy night leading to the track's title. A perfect marriage of bass-heavy TRAP collides with the frenetic rap-style of Jitta On The Track, yielding a captivating New Noise debut. With his thunderous low-ends and hip-hop influenced bass MUSIC EXSSV burst onto the scene in 2015, receiving heavy support from the likes of Carnage, The Chainsmokers, Flosstradamus, Adventure Club, 3LAU

THE 30 BEST REMIXES OF THE SUMMER
Ibiza closing parties are in full swing over the next two weeks, with Circoloco, Cocoon, Music On, Paradise and many more hosting huge events that bring the curtain down on the summer. And it’s been a huge season for ELECTRONIC MUSIC with a number of bona fide classics (see Floorplan, Midland and DJ Koze) surfacing on DANCEFLOOR at clubs and festivals. It’s been an unusually strong season for remixes too, with a number of reworks becoming the biggest tracks of the summer. So here, in no particular order, are the 30 best remixes as the sun sets on an epic season.Waterson ‘Tell Me (KDA club vocal)’Soulful vocal? Tick. Lush pads? Tick. Bumping bass lick? Tick. Basically, it doesn't get much more summery or uplifting than Waterson's 'Tell Me'. It's the KDA version that's really been making waves, though the Waterson original is equally as excellent. Pick it up on wax as part of a four-part remix pack that also features Severino, Lay-Far and Ashley Beedle.Moullinex ‘Don't You Feel (Coeo Remix)’Sounding like something out of the Heist/Dirtcrew camp, Moullinex's superb EP 'Don't You Feel' actually dropped on Discotexas earlier this year. Coeo's rework is the star of the packet; it's a dreamy house pumper with sunset appeal. Classy AF. Tim Deluxe ‘JAS (Eli Escobar remix)’Eli Escobar has had one hell of a year. His album 'Happiness' dropped on Defected-owned Classic Records to huge acclaim, and his remix of Tim Deluxe's 'JAS' continues his winning streak. The track’s distinctive sultry vocal makes it a late-night killer — everybody say “Jazzzzzzz”.Moderat ‘Running (Âme remix)’It's no secret that anything German producers Âme touch turns to gold. Their remix of Moderat's 'Running' is no exception — it's the kind of trippy prog-inspired stomper we've come to expect from the Innervisions staples. It's a favourite of label boss Dixon and has been slamming out of the Amnesia stacks all season long. Gavin Froome feat. Golden Ears ‘Don’t Come Home (The Revenge remix)’It's no secret that

How the Iconic Paradise Garage Helped Pioneer Today’s Dance Club Culture
While most people look at ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC and see the massive pageantry of EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, or Tomorrowland, the seemingly ever-growing genre has not always been this successful and profitable. For decades, other genres, like rock roll, hip hop, jazz, blues, and rb reigned supreme, and DANCE MUSIC was ostracized []

THE LARRY LEVAN WAY NYC STREET PARTY
THE LARRY LEVAN WAY NYC STREET PARTYCampaign to have a street named after the legendary Paradise Garage spinnerIssue:533A street party took place last night in New York City that was the latest step in a campaign to get a street in the city named after pioneering house DJ Larry Levan.
The street party was shut down by the police an hour early on Sunday 11th May, but not before it had made its mark. The event was live streamed around the world by the Red Bull Music Academy, with many international DJs commenting on Twitter about the campaign.
The campaign has been set up to have a part of King Street in the city, where the infamous Paradise Garage used to be, named after its famous resident DJ.
The section between Varick and Hudson in NYC, where Paradise Garage club-goers used to queue up , has been earmarked for the name-change tribute.
The campaign was launched by DJ Frankie Cruz, a former Paradise Garage clubber. He set up a petition that attracted a few thousand signatures initially, and when the Red Bull Music Academy got hold of it they decided to help take it to the next level by staging a street party.
“As the legendary DJ of the Paradise Garage, Larry Levan's MUSIC l journeys resulted in a very strong following by both gay and straight communities alike. As one of the first DJs to perform worldwide as well as one of the first DJs to develop and own his own record label, Larry Levan was a true pioneer in the DANCE MUSIC industry,” the petition begins.
Sign the petition here
In the 26 years since Larry Levan’s untimely death, an event has been held every year to celebrate the Paradise Garage’s legacy. The 20th July was Levan’s birthday and also the time of year that THE GARAGE closed,

RBMA takes a deep look at Larry Levans Paradise Garage legacy
DJs often refer to the club as a "church," a place where engaging with others in the ritual of dance is as a religious experience as any other. And no club in history has embodied that philosophy quite like New York's fabled Paradise Garage, with its primary resident, Larry Levan, serving as the church's high priest. So it's no surprise that Levan's weekend party was known as Saturday Mass—and from 1977 to 1987, it both nurtured the city's oft-maligned LGBT community and sparked an underground dance-music revolution.

MOVEMENT CROATIA 61 TRACKS DROPPED IN THE GARDEN
Movement rolled into The Garden in Tisno for the inaugural edition of its Croatia edition with an impeccable roster of house and techno selectors spinning on the Adriatic coast. With three stages, two impeccable restaurants, home brewed Session Ale, a beach and clear blue sea, the festival’s venue is a party paradise with a distinctly intimate feel, whilst Barbarella’s Discotheque, the complex’s satellite venue, means Movement can continue into the night as DJs spin at the outdoor club beneath the stars. The highlights of the weekend demonstrate the impeccable programming of Movement’s events. Despite being known as a techno festival, and bringing heavyweights in the form Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Sven Väth and Nina Kraviz, parties from Dan Ghenacia’s Lola Ed crew, London’s Half Baked, Crazyjack and Circo Loco prove the incredible array of sounds on offer.Floorplan playing to a packed pontoon on The Beach Stage is the first on deck to truly light up the festival, as Robert and his daughter Lyric Hood drop tracks including Alex Kenji’s remix of Joey Negro’s ‘Feel It’ and Mickael Davis’ ‘Zona Vacancy’ to a packed but intimate setting, as the night sea glistens below the stage lights. Later that evening, Derrick May steps up for the sunrise slot at Barberella’s for a masterclass of Motor City sounds that shows exactly why he’s been revered for so long, working his quick fire crossfader skills in a set that spans two generations of music from and influenced by his home town. The following day, new Concrete resident Leo Pol plays a live set of hazy lo-fi deep house that’s perfect for the searing daytime heat, pulling influence from the '90s west coast sound of Mark E. Quark and Grayhound recordings, and epitomised by his cavernously groovy track ‘Parking’. Later, Fumiya Tanaka plays a wonky set of minimal house and techno to the biggest crowd The Garden stage sees across the entire weekend. At Movement, boat parties take to the Adriatic Sea once a day, and Circo Loco, who

He’s the shamanic funk star who produced everyone from the Rolling Stones to Bob Dylan. Now, he is steering jazz’s most iconic label into the future – by embracing its ‘secret scene’‘Journeyman” is a term often used to describe Don Was.
