Progress is exausting
nope, no OVER EXCITED exaltations of how wonderful everything is. no pretty shots of ELECTRO ic componentry (ok...just one). noruminationson the future of live MUSIC performance. nope...there is only code, and flow charts and mind maps on serial communication, AT commands, actionscript, proccessing, and java classes. lest we not leave out learning that most computers come with a calculator that can convert decimal numbers to Hex and learning to read and use system exclusive and OSC. now, i would be lying if i said that i'm not into this stuff. I am. i find this stuff to be amazingly interesting and must pinch myself daily to my great fortune to have been born at this point in history to be able to do it, but WOW, FUCKING WOW! The Rabbit hole has no bottom! there are worlds within worlds of this shit on the internet! you cant believe! forums where people chat about the intricacies of this stuff the way you or i might chat about...well, theres not really any comparison. its deep, DEEP. the further i go in, the more i ask questions that make my brain almost shutdown, i find that my question is that of a virgin "noob" (new-bie; some one who is new to the game) and doesnt even warrant a response until i bug the shit out of everyone until some one throws me a tid-bit of info that to them is some throw away shit yet to me, is the most valuable bit of text known to man! I have a healthy ego and i like me, but i am truly humbled. all i can say is wow! i am not worthy and i must go forward much more apprentice-like.thats not to say that things arent happening. And i fully expected, and honestly, looked forward to these issues. i recieved the larger FSR's (force sensing resistors) this week. these are the sensors i will be using as "keys" on my instrument. i chose them because i will be a ble to program variable levels of functionality into one key which, creatively, excites me. and with these sensors, i now have 99% of what i need to create the controller, the one hold out being
Beautifully mastered tracks
Having just recently upgraded from an awful gaming headset to some mid-range audiophile headphones and amp (Sennheiser HD598), I'm dying to hear some tracks that are mastered with some subtleties. Some people on forums say listening to ELECTRONIC MUSIC hrough good hardware can ruin it for the listener because a majority of tracks out there are poorly mixed and compressed. That's why a lot of audiophiles out there prefer classical or jazz. Without sounding too pretentious, hook a brotha up with some gorgeous tunes! I like almost all genres. French house, nu disco, AMBIENTELECTRO
Arctic Monkeys – 10 of the best
It’s 10 years since their first album told tales of seedy nightlife and ‘trackie bottoms tucked in socks’. Finding DJ Music Digging For Halloween Remixes Top 40 and Beyond
Every time a holiday like Halloween rolls around, DJ forums are flooded with posts asking for holiday-specific music for themed gigs. There's a lot of value in sharing gems among DJs, but too often these posts imply or state they have no music that fits the theme and have no idea where to look. Instead of looking for handouts from others, this guide aims to arm DJs with the tools to contribute their own finds to the discussion.

Mat Zo Takes a Chance on The Producer’s Forum
Back in the olden days of the early 2000s, electronic music producers would communicate largely on what Nana and Pop-Pop call forums. Facebook wasnt quite Facebook yet, and believe it or not people didnt post a picture of everything they ate on social media. Yes, in that simpler time people used to communicate about common

17 Ways To Promote Your Music Online
This post was written byJon Ostrowand originally appeared on theBandzoogle Blog.
When it comes to promoting music online, there are far too many channels, networks, forums, platforms, apps and communities for musicians to be involved with to be present on them all.So rather than attempt the impossible, you should focus your efforts on a handful that are likely to bare the most fruit. How are you to know which platforms are most likely to lead to success?Well, theres no one answer, and trial and error will still most certainly be involved. But there are a few questions you can ask yourself to help you identify your best options:
Who are your ideal fans?
Where do they spend their time online?
Where do you find similar artists (even far bigger acts within your genre) spending most of their time actively engaging with their audience online?
What type of content are they focused on (i.e. Videos, photos, articles/ blogs, etc.)
Answering these simple questions is a great way to get started. Once youve made it to this point, youll want to explore the different platforms / properties available to you. These can be broken into 4 separate categories, each with a unique purpose:
Owned Properties
While social networks are great, they are essentially rented, not owned. If Twitter suddenly ceases to exist, all of your followers go with it.
For this simple reason, you should always start with the channels you can call your own. Make sure these act as the hub for your fans to know they can always find the most up to date information about you.
1. Website
This should always be priority #1 (and were not just saying that to toot our own horns). An official website gives your fans a place online where they know they can find you, no matter which social networks come and go.

2. Mailing list
Email is still the best way to reach your fans when they need to be reached. Unlike most social networks that 1) use an algorithm to determine what content

What The Hell Happened To Smokin Joe Mekhael
He once drew us in with his outlandish innocent love of tasteful and admittedly cheesy dance music DJ sets. He toured both major and regional cities as a DJ entertainer on a regular basis and came across as one of the sweethearts of bookers across the country. He friggin stayed awake for 7 day and broke the longest DJ set world record... So why has Smokin Joe driven his brand into a pile of controversy?Smokin Joe built his career as the self titled most 'electrifying man in dance music' and using that same brand, he has converted his fan pages into forums for pumping out anti vaccination and anti government messages. This week he hit a peak controversial moment when he interrupted the ANZAC Day dawn service at Martin Place in Sydney with his personal anti war message.Of course we live in a tricky political climate where a lot of people have widely varied views, but as passionate as he is, this shift in messaging with his 'Smokin Joe' fan pages has really made it difficult to respect him professionally. He's abused the power he created through something that meant to be fun and tried to draw the average punter who loved his crazy DJ sets into a pawn for his proposed ideology.Smokin Joe was a self made DJ brand that was as humorous as it was sincere and if anyone tried to make fun of him, there was twice as many people there to defend him. Every time he entered a club, you knew he was there sheepishly carrying his WWE inspired champions belt and gold laced clothes and self promotional t-shirt. It was simple and fun times and it's sad to see him blur the lines with that brand creation and his so wildly intense, personal views. Here's to the happier times.

Wherehow can I meet people who are into listening tocreating dubstep music in my area
Hello, I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm starting to make my own dubstep music but I'm really intimidated by it all, I would like to meet people with the same mindset or interests. I also want to make friends who are into the dubstep scene because literally none of my friends are. Are there any good forums to check out? I'm in the SOCAL area. Thanks! submitted by randomperson32 [link] [9 comments]

Avicii awarded posthumous Grammy in Sweden
Avicii was awarded a posthumous award at Sweden’s annual Grammy Gala (Grammisgalan). The honorary Grammy was presented to the late EDM superstar’s father, Klaus Bergling, at the ceremony on 7th February. The beloved producer – real name Tim Bergling – had received a Grammy award before in 2012 for his breakthrough single ‘Levels’.In the month's since Avicii’s tragic death aged 28 in April 2018, his father has accepted a number of posthumous accolades on his son’s behalf. At the Grammy Gala, he gave a heartfelt speech describing Tim as a “friendly” and “very serious” person. He described his son as being “obsessed” when it came to his music and as inherently shy.“We have received so much love and support from his fans, partners from the music industry and his friends,” he said. “His music is played in new forums and in new interpretations. We are very proud of that…”“He had a need to withdraw find peace and find himself,” he added. “Something that many of us probably recognise."Recently, the documentary, 'Avicii: True Stories’, was re-released on Netflix. The film, follows Avicii’s rapid rise to fame while also documenting the harrowing toll that celebrity and the pressure of the industry had on both his mental and physical health. DJ Mag’s digital editor Charlotte Lucy Cijffers reflected on the young DJs enormous influence on the global EDM community and on how his openness surrounding struggles with fame, touring and alcoholism gave a troubling, if necessary, insight into a side of dance music the world often does not see.In the UK, Samaritans can be contacted on 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org.
