Amtrac and Posso make it clear that Spring is here with Dont Know Download
SXSW is all about coming together to rejoice: well I don't want to refer to it as that, but people come together and create a wonderful experience of MUSIC culture. When I think of an ideal instrumental world, I think of every ARTIST I admire joining forces (like SXSW) to...
Hercules and Love Affair Omnion
As originally seen on Exclaim.ca.On Hercules and Love Affair's fourth studio album, Omnion, Andy Butler and company cover way more ground than they did on previous releases — always a risky move. As an album wanders, more opportunities arise for a wrong turn. Omnion veers to a fault.
It's obvious that it's a different Hercules and Love Affair on this album from the opening title track, "Omnion." It sounds like an outtake from Arcade Fire's Reflektor era, as singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten's pleading vocals span a beat-light, synth-filled instrumental, like DANCE MUSIC conceived from an outside-the-genre perspective. It's a formula revisited on "Are You Still Certain," and it demonstrates the New York-based group's growth. Unfortunately, it's also symptomatic of the issues that plague the 11-song release. Not the least of Omnion's problems is that it represents change, but not for the best.
On several songs, including "Controller," "Wildchild" and "My Curse and Cure," Hercules and Love Affair wade back into familiar four-to-the-floor territory, fitting nicely with the back catalogue of the iconic Warner Music Group-owned Big Beat Records. Yet only the seventh track, "Lies," matches the charm of earlier releases. Gustaph's melancholic vocals overlay an instrumental that could've been conceived by an oddly sentient robot.
Omnion is Hercules and Love Affair's most mature album, but people have never turned to this group for introspective ballads. Now it's obvious why.

Daft Punk cowrote a track with an Aussie band
Parcels - a group made up of Jules Crommelin, Patrick Hetherington, Noah Hill, Anatole Serret and Louie Swain - might not come to mind instantly, however this young Aussie group are clearly in the 'making big waves' business after enlisting the help of Daft Punk on their latest single, 'Overnight'.Quite impressive work for a few blokes from Byron Bay, right? The track comes via French imprint Kitsuné, wherein the link-up between the renowned ELECTRO duo and this group of up-and-coming MUSIC makers was made, and hence 'Overnight' was born. The track bares that staple, Daft Punk disco vibe that became famous circa their 2013 album 'Random Access Memories', and sees Parcels uplift the track with some upbeat vocals and added instrumental gestures.Listen to the track in full below, and be sure to follow Parcels for more heat in the near future.

LISTEN Anna Of The North The Dreamer TÂCHES amp KAASI Remix
Tâches and Kaasi have remixed Norwegian songstress Anna Of the North with her rack 'The Dreamer'.The atmospheric 7-minute remix begins quite bare, slowly building the foundations of the track along the warped vocals of the original. It isn't until 1-and-a-half-minute that things finally come together, with a wobbly bass line introduced that complements the AMBIENT instrumental work in the background. The 21-year-old Tâches - who leads a mysterious reputation among the HOUSE MUSIC world - is renowned for delivering the goods with his remixes - as seen in his remix of Elk Road's 'Not To Worry' in December - and this flip of Anna Of the North's 'The Dreamer' is no exception, calling in the assistance of Kaasi.Check it out below and tell us what you make of it!

Esperanza Spalding Emily’s DEvolution review – unconditionally terrific
(Concord) When bassist and singer-songwriter Esperanza Spalding played this MUSIC – from her most high-concept album yet – live in London last year, there was plenty of jubilant instrumental jamming alongside the new material. The album focuses on her vocals, with their wily melodic turns, personal poetry, spoken-word chatters and skewed RB hooks. But even if they are pop songs, a few could have been composed by Wayne Shorter, and Spalding’s voice has never sounded so assured in its dizzying ascents from mid-range murmurs to falsetto swoops. Her singing variously suggests Kate Bush, Janelle Monae or even a female Jack Bruce with a 21st-century Cream. Unconditional Love is an unconditionally terrific pop ballad (intensified by her thunderous bass guitar), while the weaving Earth to Heaven is a testament to how powerful that voice has become, and the unison bass and guitar ostinato of Funk the Fear is almost as compelling on record as it was live – but for the fact that Matthew Stevens’ exciting guitar playing gets faded much too early. Let’s Runaway To Neverland With Mazde’s New Single Ft Khary

Need recommendations for kids summer camp music
Hey everyone... Disclaimer... Dubstep isn't my gig. I work at a church and each summer we do a kids camp during the day. We have a very powerful sound system (Nexo GeoS12 array with RS18 subs), so we want to make it bounce. I'm looking for instrumental music only. The best No 1 records Right Said Fred – Deeply Dippy
1992: Somehow, I'm Too Sexy didn't top the charts – but the Freds had more in their locker than just that ...Right Said Fred's I'm Too Sexy – a No 1 hit almost everywhere except the UK thanks to the cockroach-like tenacity of Brian Adams's Everything I Do (I Do It For You) – looked like it had one-hit-wonder written all over it. Yet the Freds were a more versatile proposition than many would have assumed. Deeply Dippy was gloriously out of kilter with the chart music of its (or any) era but it was constructed in a genuinely unique way – it takes a whopping 80 seconds to spring to life, and when it does it whips out the trombone and embarks on an extended instrumental break. The lyrics were ludicrous of course – "legs that go on for miiiiiiiiles and miles" – but then that never stopped Bob Dylan. Despite three big hits (and more smart, sassy material on their debut album Up), the Freds were destined to never be taken all that seriously. Perhaps Richard Fairbrass gyrating in leather pants and a feather boa in the video had something to do with that. Continue reading...
