D∆WN — “Break Me”
Here's a new loose track from future-RB ARTIST D∆WN called "Break Me." In the hands of producer Leonce, the combination of D∆WN's aching vocals and celestial synths manages to sound airy, despite the heavy pulses of an 808 bass line. "Break Me" arrives ahead of D∆WN's upcoming tour dates in Europe and the U.S. Listen below.

Faking Keyboard Parts On Guitar Part 1
Asides from being big hits, songs likeI’m a Believerby The Monkees, Let’s Spend the Night Together by the Rolling Stones and The Final Countdown by Europe have an element in common in that they all feature keyboard parts prominently. If you’re a guitar band that doesn’t have a keyboard player you might perceive this to be a problem. The obvious solution is to hire a keyboardist or force the singer into keyboard lessons. Neither, though, makes economic sense if you only need such sounds occasionally.Happily, there’s a third way. As if you don’t already have enough to do, you, the guitarist, can play these parts. With a little preparation there’s no reason why you can’t perform them convincingly plus you’ll have a valid excuse for buying more equipment (and who doesn’t want that?).In this first tutorial, I'll show you the techniques and thought processes you’ll need to make this work.Stop Thinking Like a GuitaristIf you want to approximate keyboard sounds, you have to approach the guitar in the same manner. Luckily, this doesn’t mean playing it horizontally from your chest, or having to sell all your gear and purchase a Keytar —neither is a good look. But it might mean an adjustment in technique, especially if you’re playing chords.Making It By Faking ItThe believability of your sound starts with two factors relating to your playing:The Attack PhaseHarmonic VoicingThe Attack PhaseThis refers to the initial sound at the beginning of a note. On a guitar, the attack phase is loudest on the string that’s struck first with a diminishing amount for each of the strings that follow. By contrast, on a keyboard, the attack phase is almost uniform for every note. The difference here is that whilst a guitar’s strings are struck one after the other (even if very closely together) the notes on a keyboard are struck simultaneously. Any timing discrepancies between notes created on a guitar are far harder to discern on a keyboard. Therefore, strumming strings simply doesn’t convey the same
Mozart Die Entführung aus dem Serail NézetSéguinVillazón CD review disappointing
Damrau/Prohaska/Villazón/Schweinester/Selig/Quasthoff/COE/Nézet-Séguin(Deutsche Grammophon, two CDs)Deutsche Grammophon’s projected cycle of the mature Mozart operas, with Yannick Nzet-Sguin conducting the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, is central to Rolando Villazn’s efforts to reinvent himself as a Mozart tenor. Villazn and Nzet-Sguin are the two constant factors in the seven recordings, which are to be based on concert performances given each summer at Baden-Baden. The first set, of Cos fan Tutte, appeared two years ago; a Don Giovanni followed last autumn, and the fourth instalment, Le Nozze di Figaro, will be recorded next week.If the Festspielhaus at Baden-Baden, the largest opera house in Germany, seems an odd place to choose for recording Mozart, then on the evidence of this Entfhrung neither Nzet-Sguin nor Villazn is an obvious point of reference for such a project, either. Anton Newcombe I once had a fight involving a hammer and a knife luckily Im quite agile
He's had his fair share of scraps with New Order, heroin and even his own bandmates. But the Brian Jonestown Massacre maverick is now more concerned with learning to speak GermanHi, Anton. Where are you?In Berlin. I've been living in Europe since 2007. I like it here. If I lived in Brooklyn or Camden, I'd be interacting with more people. Here, I've just got my studio and my thoughts. I don't speak German, which is really interesting. Continue reading...
Help Support Honest FactBased Drug Education and Awareness with EMA partner DanceSafe
Check out the full campaign HERE: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-support-honest-fact-based-drug-education-and-awareness
DanceSafe is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public health organization whose mission is to promote health and safety within the electronic music community. In the U.S., DanceSafe is one of a kind. Since 1999, we have been the only national nonprofit providing honest, fact-based drug information and outreach services to young people at raves, clubs, and music festivals.
DanceSafe embraces harm reduction and peer education as guiding principles. We also employ standards and guidelines for best practices as set forth by similar organizations in Europe, where a public health approach to drug use is the norm. Our aim is to establish a similar widespread acceptance for harm reduction as an evidence-based public health practice in North America.
Globally, electronic music is the fastest growing youth culture. Todays electronic music community is todays youth. With the ever-increasing popularity of electronic music, and with EDM as the pop culture of the new generation, the need for DanceSafes services is at an all-time high.
Drug-Related Deaths and 'Zero Tolerance'
How can we expect young people to make responsible decisions about drug use without the proper tools, resources, and education? Following some recent tragedies across the U.S. and globally, attention has shifted towards providing harm reduction services in the electronic music community. Despite 'zero tolerance' drug policies, many young people choose to use drugs, and while all drug users are at-risk for abuse and addiction, most remain non-problematic, recreational users. Yet because of zero tolerance drug policies, these users are often deprived of the education they need to make informed decisions and stay safe.
It is morally and medically negligent to not address drug use or provide an individual with resources that could potentially save their life.Rather than banning music festivals and

On The 5th Day takes techno curation to the next level Promoter Focus
On The 5th Day has become one of London's essential techno outings thanks to carefully curated line-ups and an intimate vibe. While Berlin may traditionally be the go-to city for Europe’s techno obsessives, London is giving the German capital a run for its money of late, with a wealth of new parties aimed at dedicated heads. Founded in 2014 as a regular night at Qube Project, and now based out of renowned Elephant Castle venue, Corsica Studios, On The 5th Day stands out amongst the crowd.“We’re all about an artist’s sound rather than their name — both from a production perspective, of course, but more importantly from a DJing/ performance perspective — someone who we can trust to deliver behind the decks,” explains founder Mantas Jankauskas, who also forms half of resident duo, Abstract Man.“We like to shape interesting line-ups where artists will potentially ignite something unique in one another, pulling out a particular side of another artist’s sound, or complimenting their sound in a particular way. We try to think about the event as a whole, each artist as a piece of a puzzle. Of course this approach is a gamble and a risk, but one we embrace in order to try and create a memorable night.”This means pairing the likes of masked Horo producer SNTS (pictured above) with Von Grall, Abdulla Rashim with Mike Parker, and Boston 168 with Acronym, while a long list of local residents — picked up from across the London scene and through the Become A DJ mixing school at which Jankauskas teaches — ensure the balance is always right across both rooms and regulars are always catered for. This month sees Klockworks-affiliate Etapp Kyle headline on Saturday 21st October with a three-hour set. “We experienced an Etapp Kyle set at Berghain in 2016,” recalls Jankauskas. “The way he controlled the room and propelled everyone towards ethereal, techno bliss was pretty magical.”Meanwhile, closing duties on the night will be handled by “mesmerising” Japanese selector Takaaki Itoh, and room

Flume announces world tour with a mammoth list of support
With a proud tear in our eye we look on as our Aussie born and bred wonder child takes the world on again, this time touring his sophomore LP Skin (due out May 27). The tour will stretch from Europe, Oceania, and North America. The tour may as well be a touring festival as Flume has gathered some of the coolest cats in town to support him for certain dates. It's huge: Ryan Hemsworth, Wave Racer, AlunaGeorge, Charles Murdoch, Shlohmo, Tokimonsta, Classixx *takes breath* Hermitude and so, so much more. For the mean time these supports are for the North American leg of the tour, but our Spidey senses tell us that maybe the Australian artists will join him down under (don't take our word for it).To celebrate the announcement, Flume has created a playlist on Spotify full of favourites and tracks from his supports. It will be updated over the weekend.
