Reddit Thinks Daft Punk Are Going to Tour in 2017
Masked ELECTRO ic masters Daft Punk have given hopeful fans reason to believe that the French duo may be gearing up to tour next year.
The enigmatic two-man — or two-robot, rather — group haven't released a new album since 2013's Random Access Memories, though they did just hop on the Weeknd's latest single "Starboy." Now, a discovery by a particularly keen Redditor reveals that the pair might be returning to the stage in the not so distant future.
As FACT points out, user KosherAtheist discovered a page dedicated to Daft Punk on the Lollapalooza website, implying that the duo are expected to grace the Chicago festival's stage. The page was added in February and is anticipated to correlate with the festival's 2017 lineup.
The men beneath the robot costumes, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, have an infamously sparse track record when it comes to touring. They supported Homework with the "Daftendirektour" in 1997, then didn't return to the live circuit until 2007, where they kicked off a string of live appearances with a show at Coachella.
Other than a few sporadic performances (including a spot at the 2014 Grammy Awards), the duo have not toured in support of Random Access Memories. If they're sticking to the 10-years-between-tours timeline, then a 2017 run of concerts doesn't seem all that farfetched.
All that said, this is all guesswork at this point and a simple ARTIST page on a festival website is hardly a solid foundation. Plus, an "industry source" tells Consequence of Sound that the duo have "no plans to perform live next summer," though Daft Punk and Lollapalooza have yet to officially comment on the rumours.

Daft Punk To Finally Tour Devils Tower Shoots Down Daft Punk Show
Daft Punk has established themselves as perhaps the most illusive ARTIST in the ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC world. Despite the financial and critical success of their 2013 album Random Access Memories, a live tour has yet to be officially announced. However, we may have just gotten the first details on a potential 2014 tour. According to a recent []The post Daft Punk To Finally Tour? The Daft Punk Tour Conspiracy Theorists Are At It Again
Daft Punk recently teamed up with the Weeknd on "Starboy," though they haven't released an album of their own since 2013's Random Access Memories. And while an "industry source" shut down recent rumours about the helmet-wearing robots heading out on tour next year, some new online clues have riled up the conspiracy theorists (or just really optimistic fans) once again.
A new website under the domain Alive2017.com was discovered, prompting Daft Punk detectives to speculate that a tour is, in fact, still in the works for next year.
The French ELECTRO ic duo previously released live albums titled Alive 1997 and Alive 2007, and fans seem to be banking on the 10-year pattern continuing.
Reddit users have pointed out that a cursory look at the site's code reveals a series of numbers that could be interpreted as geographical coordinates — possibly revealing plans to play cities like Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Ibiza and Coachella's hometown of Indio, CA.
The source code also reveals text that reads: "WAKE DATE 2016-10-27," suggesting that the site will officially launch on October 27 with some sort of special announcement.
Daft Punk have yet to address the rumours or confirm any upcoming engagements, so far all we know, this could just be the work of a troll with a vendetta against dancing robots and a lot of free time. Here's hoping it turns into something a little more exciting, though.

Giorgio Moroder review – cheesy cabaret doesnt take the breath away
Symphony Hall, BirminghamKicking off his first ever solo tour at the age of 78, the sheer disparity of Moroder’s hits makes for an uneven showThe audience for Giorgio Moroder’s first live tour presents an intriguing study in contrasts. Those clearly drawn by Moroder’s reputation as an infallible 80s hit-making machine – the man Hollywood called when it needed a smash single for its latest blockbuster – rub shoulders with earnest gentlemen in Kraftwerk T-shirts, drawn for the same reason that Daft Punk asked Moroder to appear on their 2013 album Random Access Memories, thus reactivating his career: the 78-year-old is the pioneer behind arguably the most influential piece of ELECTRONIC MUSIC ver recorded, Donna Summer’s 1977 single I Feel Love.Moroder manages to baffle both parties by opening with Looky Looky, a 1969 French No 1 from an era when he was a purveyor of an unlovely Mitteleuropean variant on US bubblegum pop. The rest of the show seems inspired by another Random Access Memories alumnus, Nile Rodgers, who has been wowing festivals for a decade with party-starting, hit-packed Chic performances. But watching Moroder and band – complete with string quartet – you’re struck by the sense that Chic’s back catalogue works live because it’s less disparate than this. All their hits are linked by Rodgers’ distinctive guitar, but almost nothing sonically binds the thrilling ELECTRO ic pulse of 1977’s From Here to Eternity and the featherweight 80s movie theme The Never Ending Story, the latter not much helped by a live arrangement that leans towards the cruise ship.
