Daft Punk cowrote a track with an Aussie band
Parcels - a group made up of Jules Crommelin, Patrick Hetherington, Noah Hill, Anatole Serret and Louie Swain - might not come to mind instantly, however this young Aussie group are clearly in the 'making big waves' business after enlisting the help of Daft Punk on their latest single, 'Overnight'.Quite impressive work for a few blokes from Byron Bay, right? The track comes via French imprint Kitsuné, wherein the link-up between the renowned ELECTRO duo and this group of up-and-coming MUSIC makers was made, and hence 'Overnight' was born. The track bares that staple, Daft Punk disco vibe that became famous circa their 2013 album 'Random Access Memories', and sees Parcels uplift the track with some upbeat vocals and added instrumental gestures.Listen to the track in full below, and be sure to follow Parcels for more heat in the near future.

Reddit Thinks Daft Punk Are Going to Tour in 2017
Masked electronic masters Daft Punk have given hopeful fans reason to believe that the French duo may be gearing up to tour next year.
The enigmatic two-man — or two-robot, rather — group haven't released a new album since 2013's Random Access Memories, though they did just hop on the Weeknd's latest single "Starboy." Now, a discovery by a particularly keen Redditor reveals that the pair might be returning to the stage in the not so distant future.
As FACT points out, user KosherAtheist discovered a page dedicated to Daft Punk on the Lollapalooza website, implying that the duo are expected to grace the Chicago festival's stage. The page was added in February and is anticipated to correlate with the festival's 2017 lineup.
The men beneath the robot costumes, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, have an infamously sparse track record when it comes to touring. They supported Homework with the "Daftendirektour" in 1997, then didn't return to the live circuit until 2007, where they kicked off a string of live appearances with a show at Coachella.
Other than a few sporadic performances (including a spot at the 2014 Grammy Awards), the duo have not toured in support of Random Access Memories. If they're sticking to the 10-years-between-tours timeline, then a 2017 run of concerts doesn't seem all that farfetched.
All that said, this is all guesswork at this point and a simple artist page on a festival website is hardly a solid foundation. Plus, an "industry source" tells Consequence of Sound that the duo have "no plans to perform live next summer," though Daft Punk and Lollapalooza have yet to officially comment on the rumours.
Ultra CEO says unannounced performances will be huge and something unique that can only be seen at the festival
Ultra Music Festival will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and the festival’s CEO Russell Faibisch has reiterated that they've got something massive planned.“Yes, something very big is in the works! Every year we pride ourselves on delivering for our fans special unannounced performances and surprises,” he said during an interview with Magnetic Magazine.“But for the big 20th Anniversary, we knew we had to deliver something huge. Something unique that can only be seen at Ultra. It is completely under wraps. The only thing I can say is to Expect The Unexpected.”So far the rumour mill has decided that the special performance will be a reunion of Swedish House Mafia, who famously played their final ever show at the event in 2013.Other, and far less likely, rumours include Daft Punk, who haven’t toured in over a decade or Avicii, who retired from performing a couple of years ago due to his failing health. If Axwell and Ingrosso are announced as headliners, don't be surprised if Steve Angello jumps out from a giant cake mid-drop for the ultimate EDM moment.Media: ultramexico1-1200x600.jpgUltra Music FestivalBig Surprise2018Swedish House MafiaA Swedish House Mafia reunion…?Navigation Section:NewsSection Priority:Priority 1Broadcast Date:Friday, January 5, 2018 - 19:15
Avicii enlisted to help produce upcoming Chic album
Avicii has been enlisted by Rock Hall of Famer Nile Rodgers to help produce the forthcoming Chic album. The revelation arrived via an interview by The National ahead of the Mawazine Festival in Morocco. Billboard has since confirmed Rodgers statement about working with Avicii. The Swedish producer, who famously announced his hiatus from touring in March of 2016, has hinted at his own 2017 full-length release as well. However, his website has seen little updates since the early April revamp.Rodgers is no stranger to massive cross-over collaborations; the guitarist was an integral element to the success of Daft Punk’s 2013 hit ‘Get Lucky’. Rodgers and Avicii, along with Adam Lambert, formerly collaborated on ‘Lay Me Down’ from Avicii’s solo debut ‘True’.The new Chic full-length offering is expected to be released before 2017 is over. Earlier this week, Daft Punk were rumoured to be touring in 2017, but now reports have come that the robots live return has been greatly exaggerated.Consequence of Sound reports that an “industry source” has confirmed that Daft Punk have no plans to perform live next year.Speaking on online forum/aggregator Reddit, Consequence of Sound founder, Alex Young, went on to say that sources have confirmed “they aren’t accepting live offers”.There is still currently no official word from the Daft Punk camp. The timing would fit with Daft Punk's past touring itinerary, with the duo playing live once every 10 years — they played at Glastonbury in '97, followed by Wireless, Rockness and Oxegen festivals 10 years later in 2007.Daft Punk recently featured on The Weeknd's new single 'Starboy', the first outing since their LP 'Random Access Memories' in 2013.Rob McCallum is DJ Mag’s deputy digital editor. The Top 5 Electronic Duos That Are Not Daft Punk

Giorgio Moroder Dejavu review – electronic pioneer falls victim to his own vast influence
(Sony) Related: Giorgio Moroder: 10 groundbreaking tunes If you had single-handedly changed the direction of electronic music, you’d probably take a bit of time off, too. Deja-vu is Giorgio Moroder’s first solo album since a collaboration with Phil Oakey in 1985. During that time, he’s been playing “a lot of golf”, while the sound he pioneered has stretched across almost all modern pop. The guest list for this comeback – spurred on by his 2013 collaboration with Daft Punk – is a reminder of his status: Sia, Charli XCX, Kylie and Britney all appear. It’s probably a bit much to expect Moroder, who recently turned 75, to reinvent pop all over again. Some moments here are unmistakably him, such as the icy synth intro to Back Forth, which features a vocoder-addled Kelis. But for every decent chorus, there is a moment where Moroder falls victim to his own vast influence, and the likes of Don’t Let Go and Tempted feel like generic chart pop you’ve heard before – probably not the kind of deja vu he was after.
