PREMIERE Illeniums Single Afterlife Feat Echos Gets A Heavy Remix From Dabin
Illeniums emotional and melodic single, Afterlife feat. Echos, has received the remix treatment from Toronto-based producer Dabin. The original track is part of Illeniums 12-track debut album Ashesand has sort of become an all-encompassing representation of hissound with itsemotional core and explosive, melodic dubstep sound.
Dabin beautifully rearranges the production to take on two heavily contrasting styles. The first half of the song embraces a chillstep style withfeathery drum kicks to create more of a beat atop the orchestral melody. The drop maintains its essentialelements, but gets layered with an angelic counter melody made up of Echos lovely vocals.
Things take an interesting and compelling turn in the second half of the record as the sound design shifts towards a darker set of elements before fully unleashing a powerful, dubstep drop. Dabin then bridges the entire song together with a third drop that seamlessly weaves Echos vocals in and out of lush future bass synths. Taking on an Illenium song is no easy task but Dabin certainly steps up to the plate here with his bold rework of Afterlife. Stream it below and enjoy!

Creating the Extremely Genre Specific relectronicmusic Playlist Week 41 2Step Garage
Notes UPDATE: All threads will be open for 2 weeks now. If you voted in the June survey you don't need to vote again, but otherwise please vote in the survey below. Survey for July Previous Genres / Other Threads Week 39: Breakbeat Results Megathread Week 40: Brostep Creation Upcoming Genres 6/9 – Eurotrance / Hands Up 6/18 – Chillstep / Melodic Dubstep 6/25 – Halftime DnB Intro One of the most amazing things about music is that its variety allows it to cater to the tastes of everyone despite the great differences in between people. This can also lead to a challenge, however, as, despite our best efforts to categorize music into genres that can be used to neatly describe specific styles, discussing tastes can be challenging to someone who is unfamiliar. Especially now that there are so many different genres, it can be daunting to try to find what a new genre is really about or how to explain your favorite genre to a friend. To combat this issue, I have decided to start this weekly activity in which everyone can work together to create /r/electronicmusic ‘s extremely genre specific playlists. It's simple, nominate a song by posting it, and upvote the ones you like that fit well within the genre. The top 20 songs from individual artists will be made into a playlist. Guidelines for Posting • Keep it one song per post. • Please check the thread to see if your song has already been posted. • Always remember to use Artist – Song. • No songs that were already on a playlist. • Please include a link to the song. • Please limit yourself to 10 submissions per genre. • Be aware that by sorting comments by top you may be missing out on a lot of good songs. • Don't be afraid to NICELY inform someone the song is better suited to another genre, and don't be offended if someone tells you this. • Please upvote. A good general rule is for every post you submit you should vote on at least one other submission. Week 41: 2-Step Garage / 2-Step RYM Definition of 2-Step Garage 2-Step
Help me find this well known song please
Pretty sure it's a melodic dubstep/chillstep song, definitely pretty well known. Had heard it before but it was played at a memorable point of a festival I recently went to! I can recall a melody sung by a female vocalist that resembles this clip I made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FgH9pL83k8 submitted by /u/lugh111 [link] [comments]

looking for some tracks having a hard time finding a certain style
Hello, there is a certain sub genre of dubstep I am looking for. it is a little bit slowed down, and very meditative. but NOTHING like chillstep! dirty, heavy wobs that are very pleasing to the ear and spirit. I can't even find a track to explain, although I will look. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? bass heavy, simple drums with a beat that comes straight out of an LSD trip. thanks. submitted by themissinglink_music [link] [2 comments]
my first dubstep track

Creating the Extremely Genre Specific relectronicmusic Playlist Week 40 Brostep
Notes UPDATE: All threads will be open for 2 weeks now. Brostep is was most people think of as dubstep. That being said, I don’t want to see drumstep, complextro, or other subgenres of dubstep represented here. As always, feel free to post a brief description of the genre as well. It is always super nice to have an elevator pitch for a genre which describes how it is similar and different from other genres – basically what to look out for. There was not a great turn out for the survey this month. Please vote for July, so we are really looking at the genres you feel are relevant to you. Need help with dubstep styles subgenres but from a search it seems this sub hates that word
So I'm looking to further my understand of sub-sub-subgenres of electronic music, and dubstep was next on the list. So from what I understand these are the generally accepted styles of dubstep: Plain old dubstep (what this sub calls brostep occasionally) Liquid dubstep (smooth dubstep often referred to wrongly as chillstep) Melodic dubstep (melodic drop instead of just random growls) UK dubstep (purist dubstep with sub-wubs) Post-dubstep / future garage (James Blake stuff) Dubstyle (hardstyle / dubstep hybrid; distorted kicks) Neuro dubstep (neurofunk except dubstep) Glitchstep (no clue, I just know it's a thing) Alright, so any corrections you need to make or any styles to add, please make it known in the comments, preferably with examples. Thank you. Hope you guys aren't dicks. submitted by hydra3019 [link] [7 comments]
